Freedom From Anxiety

At this time we are working through R.A. Torrey’s book “How to Pray,” published by Whitaker House Publishing. Do you have times in your life when you are overcome by worry and anxiety? According to Stressless.com Over $800 million dollars are spent annually on “anti-anxiety pills”. How much would it be worth to you to find a way not to be overcome with worry or anxiety? $10/month, $50/month or maybe even $100/month? We have great news for you! Our Father, has made a way! And the cost is…FREE! This week, Pastor Brad and I are going to show you God’s plan for your life without worry or anxiety. Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. A literal translation of the Greek of the first phrase of this verse would read “be anxious about not even one man, woman, or thing”, or “Be confident in everything”. How is this possible? To many this initially seems like the picture of a life that is beautiful but beyond the reach of ordinary folks. The Bible tells us in at least two different passages (Numbers 23:19 & Romans 3:4) that God is true and never lies so there is a way to a worry and anxiety free life…THE PEACE OF GOD! The question is how do you attain this Peace of God? If you will notice when you find someone who has this peace you will also...

Receiving Mercy, Grace & Joy

At this time we are working through R.A. Torrey’s book “How to Pray,” published by Whitaker House Publishing. Hang on to your sock suspenders for this one. The revelation that God gave Pastor Brad and I this week is staggering! Hebrews 4:15-16 — Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession (or; confession).  (15) For we have not an High priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Isn’t God Great! To think that He has made the way possible for us to obtain His mercy, grace and joy — PRAYER — An infinite supply of grace (or; unmerited favor, us not receiving what we deserve, God empowering us with His abilities) is at our disposal as well as mercy (or; us receiving what we don’t deserve) and they are both obtained by prayer. The level of grace that you are walking in is determined by the level of your prayer life, more prayer = more grace, less prayer = less grace. Luke 11:5-8 — (5) And He said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him Friend, lend me three loaves; (6) For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have...

How To Pray continued

At this time we are working through R.A. Torrey’s book “How to Pray,” published by Whitaker House Publishing. Have you ever wondered what the reason is that we, as Christians, experience lack? James 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Not having that intimate relationship with the Father produces powerlessness and the poverty mind set that plagues such a large part of the Body of Christ today. Pastor Brad told us a while back the statistics on Christians praying: the average Christians prays only 15 seconds per day, while the average preacher only prays 90 seconds per day.  Is it any wonder why the Body of Christ doesn’t appear to be making much headway in building the Kingdom of God. We are NOT trying to place condemnation on any one, we are just trying to bring some awareness as to why Christians experience lack. Acts 6:2-4 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the Word of God, and serve tables. (3) Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. (4) But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the Word. Great men are defined by a great prayer life. (Romans 1:8-9; Ephesians 1:15-16; Colossians 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 3:10; 2 Timothy 1:3. What is prayer? Prayer is the crucial conversation between you and...

Devotions with Pastors

At this time we are working through R.A. Torrey’s book “How to Pray,” published by Whitaker House Publishing. The importance of Prayer: Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. A common trap of the enemy is to influence your thinking to the extent that if you don’t pray enough, then you are not a “good” enough Christian. Pastor Brad remembers a time when God taught him a valuable lesson on this very subject. Pastor Brad had found out how much time one of his mentors spent in prayer each day, so Pastor decided that must be the correct formula for life. As he started out praying this way it didn’t take long before Father God asked him what it was that he was doing. To make a long story short, God said did I ask you to spend 3 hours a day in prayer? Then why are you doing so? This verse is not trying to tell us that we must spend a certain time in prayer as much as it is telling us that it is the relationship between us and the Father that counts. Why pray at all? Because there is an enemy that is cunning (Gen. 3:1), that never rests (Job 1:7, 2:2); he is continually plotting the downfall of the child of God. If the child of God relaxes his relationship with the Father, then the enemy will succeed in ensnaring him. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the...
