General Revival

We are currently working through R.A. Torrey’s book “How to Pray,” published by Whitaker House Publishing. Let’s be honest, the world in which we live has changed drastically in my life time. We have a president of the United States that has publicly stated that we are no more a Christian nation but a melding pot of many different religions. If there were ever the need of a general revival, it is now! King David said in Psalms 85:6 – Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? It is surely time for the Born Again to allow God to work through them. For the world, and sadly, many mainline denominations have made void God’s commandments. (Psalms 119:126) The great need for this day is a general revival. So let’s consider first of all what a general revival is. Definition of Revival: The return or recall to activity from a state of languor or a recall, return, or recovery from a state of neglect, oblivion, obscurity or depression. A general revival is not focused on the unsaved, or unrighteous but rather it is focused on the born again that has become lethargic through conflict and trials. New salvations become a normal by-product of Christians revived and on fire for God. A revival is a time of quickening or impartation of life. Since only God can give life (John 10:10b), a revival is a time when man allows God to manifest Himself among His people.
